Color is hiring a Senior IT Systems Engineer to design, automate, secure, and operate our corporate tech environment across cloud and on-premises systems. Hybrid role—onsite Monday to Wednesday at South San Francisco office, with collaboration across IT, security, and compliance teams.

You will manage networking, IAM, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Okta, Google Workspace), plus MDM and cross-functional ticketing, while improving processes and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshooting for hybrid on-prem/cloud.
• 5+ years of experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and Terraform as code.
• Identity and access management (IAM) experience.
• Experience producing runbooks and SOPs.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience in a remote/distributed team environment.

Responsibilities

• Support internal network infrastructure at the South San Francisco office (WAN/LAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP).
• Grow and support on-premises compute, security, and telecoms infrastructure.
• Provide IAM support for employees, contractors, and collaborators using Okta and Google Workspace, AWS IAM.
• Assist with lab workspace build outs.
• Support cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, JIRA, Slack, Salesforce).
• Support MacOS and Windows platforms.
• Maintain Color MDM (Iru) infrastructure and onboarding/offboarding workflows.
• Help build and support cross-functional ticketing system.
• Research new technologies; propose changes to reduce cost/increase productivity.
• Collaborate with Security Engineering and Compliance to improve internal security practices.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Systems Engineer to join us. Reporting to the Head of DevOps, Security & IT, this individual will design, automate, secure, and operate our corporate technology environment across cloud infrastructure, identity and access management, endpoint platforms, enterprise SaaS, networking, and core IT services.

This is a hybrid role with Monday-Wednesday being onsite at our office in South San Francisco.

How You'll Contribute:

• Support our internal network infrastructure at our South San Francisco office, including WAN/LAN, VPN, DNS, and DHCP

• Grow and support our on-premises compute, security, and telecommunications infrastructure (phones, conference rooms, video conferencing, audiovisual, security cameras)

• Provide identity and authentication support for employees, external collaborators, and contractors using platforms like Okta and Google Workspace, and AWS IAM

• Assist with lab workspace build outs

• Support existing cloud platforms (including AWS, GCP, JIRA, Slack, Salesforce)

• Support both MacOS and Windows platforms.

• Support Color MDM infrastructure (Iru)

• Maintain and improve MDM onboarding and offboarding workflows.

• Help build and support cross-functional ticketing system

• Research new technologies; provide suggestions for changes and improvements that reduce cost and/or increase productivity and efficiency

• Partner with Security Engineering and Compliance teams to improve our internal information security and operational security practices including asset tracking and device monitoring

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Extensive knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshooting techniques to support day to day operations of a hybrid on-premises/cloud network.

• 5+ years of experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code using Terraform

• Identity and access management experience (IAM)

• Experience producing thorough documentation, runbooks and SOPs

• A demonstrated track record of successfully communicating technical terms and concepts to a broad range of audiences - technical, non-technical, internal and external stakeholders

• Experience working in a remote/distributed team environment

Helpful Though Not Required

• Jamf Certifications (200 Level or higher)

• Network certification(s)

• IAM/Okta certification(s)

Base Salary Range: $150,000-175,000/year

The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: work experience, market data, skills, geographic location, and business need. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for equity and benefits.
