Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior IT Security Engineer to architect, build, and own classified infrastructure for Anduril’s Space team from the ground up. You will define architecture, tooling, and automation, then implement and harden environments to be compliant and mission-ready.

You will design and deploy VMware-based infrastructure, AD/DNS/DHCP, and enterprise patch management, while driving automation and security posture from day one.

Qualifications

• 7+ years administering and hardening Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) in classified or regulated environments.
• Demonstrated experience building infrastructure from scratch, not just maintaining existing environments.
• Deep knowledge of STIG application and validation using SCAP/SCC, able to design compliance programs.

Responsibilities

• Design and build classified infrastructure from scratch, including server environments, virtual platforms, networking, and enterprise services.
• Define and implement STIG compliance strategies across Windows, RHEL, and VMware, using SCAP, SCC, and manual validation; stand up repeatable processes for ongoing compliance scanning and remediation.
• Architect and deploy virtual infrastructure (VMware vSphere, potentially vSAN and Horizon/VDI), making foundational topology decisions.
• Build out enterprise services from the ground up, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WSUS/patch repositories, and repository servers.
• Develop automation frameworks using Ansible, scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python), and infrastructure-as-code for reproducibility.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes for system health, performance, and security posture.
• Lead vulnerability remediation efforts and partner with ISSO/ISSM to meet timelines.
• Design backup and disaster recovery strategies with RPO/RTO targets and testing.
• Guide environments through the ATO process with documentation and demonstrations.
• Create runbooks and architecture docs to enable scaling beyond a single owner.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are seeking a Senior IT Security Engineer to architect, build, and own classified infrastructure for Anduril’s Space team from the ground up. This is a foundational role — you won’t be inheriting an existing environment, you’ll be designing and standing up the systems, standards, and processes that the team will rely on as it scales. That means making decisions about architecture, tooling, and automation frameworks, then implementing and hardening them to full compliance. You’ll work at the intersection of security, infrastructure, and engineering to ensure our classified environments are built right from day one and remain resilient, compliant, and mission‑ready.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Design and build classified infrastructure from scratch, including server environments, virtual platforms, networking, and enterprise services — establishing the architecture and hardened baselines the Space team will operate on
• Define and implement STIG compliance strategies across Windows, RHEL, and VMware, using SCAP, SCC, and manual validation; stand up repeatable processes for ongoing compliance scanning and remediation
• Architect and deploy virtual infrastructure (primarily VMware vSphere, and potentially vSAN and Horizon/VDI), making foundational decisions on topology, resource allocation, and scalability
• Build out enterprise services from the ground up, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WSUS/patch repositories, and repository servers
• Develop automation frameworks using Ansible, scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python), and infrastructure-as-code practices to ensure environments are reproducible, consistent, and minimally dependent on manual intervention
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes for system health, performance, and security posture
• Lead vulnerability remediation efforts, driving technical implementation for CAT I/II/III findings and partnering with ISSO/ISSM stakeholders to meet required timelines
• Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies, defining RPO/RTO targets and validating them through regular testing
• Guide environments through the ATO process, producing documentation, compliance evidence, and technical demonstrations for security assessments
• Create comprehensive runbooks, architecture documentation, and knowledge transfer materials to enable the team to scale beyond a single point of ownership

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 7+ years administering and hardening Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) in classified or regulated environments
• Demonstrated experience building infrastructure from scratch, not just maintaining existing environments
• Deep knowledge of STIG application and validation using SCAP/SCC tools, with the ability to design compliance programs, not just execute checklists
• Strong VMware vSphere experience, including architecture decisions, provisioning, and patching
• Experience standing up and managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise patch management in new environments
• Advanced scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) with hands‐on Ansible experience
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience architecting VMware vSAN and Horizon/VDI environments
• Familiarity with engineering applications such as Siemens NX, Teamcenter, or other CAD/CAM/CAE software
• Track record of leading environments through the full ATO lifecycle
• Experience mentoring junior administrators or leading small infrastructure teams
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, RHCSA, RHCE, VCP, or CISSP

US Salary Range

$166,000—$220,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
