Job summary

BITCO Insurance Companies seeks a Senior IT Security Engineer (Application, Cloud, & Data) to join our hybrid team in Davenport, IA. You will analyze security events, lead incident response, and collaborate across IT to mature our security program.

The role requires deep expertise in applications, cloud security, data protection, and vulnerability management, with hands-on use of SIEM, EDR, and CSPM tools. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or business with technology as a core component preferred.
• Minimum 7 years as an information security professional with public companies, insurance preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with cloud environments and SaaS platforms.
• Certification such as CCSP, CISSP, CCNP, or GCIA preferred or in progress.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, CSPM, Tenable, SNYK, SOAR and vulnerability management platforms.
• Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST and cloud security regulations.
• Experience with large modernization, tech debt retirement, and SaaS deployments (Duck Creek, Kalepa, SNOW, SFDC, EDW).
• Strong priority management, critical thinking, and communication; willingness for 24x7 support when required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct static and dynamic security testing on internal/external applications throughout the SDLC.
• Collaborate with developers to integrate security into the SDLC.
• Review app architecture and code with architects for vulnerabilities.
• Perform threat modeling and risk assessments for applications and platforms.
• Lead incident response and coordinate remediation for security incidents.
• Design and secure cloud architectures with practical security controls.
• Develop and maintain data security policies, encryption, and governance.
• Improve cloud logging, monitoring, and threat detection across environments.
