Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is assisting a well-established nonprofit in Richmond, Virginia, as it hires an Auditor. This permanent, full-time role will plan and conduct operational and financial audits across multiple locations, evaluate controls, and communicate findings to management.

The candidate should have 3–8+ years in public accounting or internal audit, a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, strong Excel and communication skills; CPA preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Internal audit experience is highly valued.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of auditing principles, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct operational and financial audits across multiple locations.
• Evaluate internal controls, compliance, financial processes, and operational procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and stronger controls.
• Prepare audit findings, recommendations, and reports.
• Communicate results and recommendations to management and operational stakeholders.
• Work independently while managing multiple audit engagements throughout the year.
• Partner with finance and operational leaders to improve efficiencies and strengthen accountability.
• Participate in audit planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up activities from start to finish.
