Job summary

City of Longview, WA is seeking an IT Engineer to design, implement, secure, operate, and improve the City’s hybrid IT infrastructure. The role covers servers, virtualization, storage, networks, cloud, and Microsoft 365 services with strong emphasis on security controls and incident response.

You will lead projects, provide Tier 3 escalation, and coordinate with vendors and departments. The position requires technical leadership with minimal direct supervision and may involve after-hours

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, or a closely related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience administering and engineering enterprise infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced Tier 3 escalation support for complex infrastructure, network, cloud, identity, endpoint, and security issues.
• Lead assigned technical projects, including planning, design, testing, change coordination, and documentation.
• Coordinate infrastructure, identity, integration, and security support with vendors and internal teams.
• Design, administer, and improve server, virtualization, storage, and datacenter infrastructure.
• Monitor health, capacity, performance, and security; perform root-cause analysis and implement remediation.
