Job summary

BMO U.S. is seeking a senior audit professional to lead engagements, assess internal controls, and report findings to senior management and the Board.

The role emphasizes risk mitigation, governance, and the assurance of control effectiveness across complex environments. The position combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution, including cloud auditing experience and the use of advanced analytics tools.

Qualifications

• Typically 10+ years of relevant audit experience with a related post-secondary degree.
• Professional designations such as CISA, CISSP, CIA, AAIA, AWS/Azure certifications.
• Experience using Audit Analytics and AI in audit execution is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to influence, collaborate across groups, and manage ambiguity.
• Data-driven decision making is essential.

Job description

Conducts audit engagements to critically assess management and internal control processes, approving the nature, extent and timing of the audit, its execution and the formulation of insightful audit reports. Reports on audits to provide clear, concise and memorable insights on issues and potential issues to assist management in fulfilling mandates. This work provides vital assurance to the Board of Directors and senior management on the quality of internal control systems and reduces the risk of loss and reputational damage to the Company. This work is instrumental in identifying unacceptable/high risk circumstances that could lead to material impact on profitability or reputation. Provides independent assurance on the quality and effectiveness of internal control, risk management, and governance systems and processes to support senior management and the Board in protecting BMO and its reputation.

Qualifications

• Typically 10+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Professional designations or business designation such as CISA, CISSP, CIA, AAIA, AWS/Azure Cloud Certifications.
• Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.
• AWS /Azure Cloud Auditing experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of using Audit Analytics and or AI in Audit execution.
• Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert.
• Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth / Expert.
• Influence skills - In-depth / Expert.

Hybrid in the Chicago office requirements 3 days a week (subject to change)

$100,000.00 - $220,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
