Job summary

The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, ME seeks a Senior Manager, IT Applications - Research to lead the life cycle planning of research IT hardware, software and cloud resources, and to design a DevOps strategy that ensures high‑quality deployments and robust application health.

You will partner with IT Enterprise Architecture, Operations and research faculty to shape the IT program, manage budgets and contracts, evaluate vendors, and drive roadmaps for scalable scientific software.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field with 3 years in software engineering in Agile environments.
Alternative: Bachelor of Science in CS/Software Eng/CE with 5 years in software development and ITIL‑driven service management.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and Google Cloud Platform.

Responsibilities

Lead the DevOps strategy to ensure quality software deployments and robust application health.
Develop long‑term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient Research IT solutions.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, IT Operations and stakeholders to shape roadmaps.
Manage vendor relations, contracts and budgets; justify IT spending with cost/benefit analyses.
Define milestones, SLAs and resource allocation; communicate with executives and end users.
