Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a seasoned application developer to design, develop, implement, and support centralized applications and SDP engineering software. You will work across teams to integrate in‑house systems with purchased software, ensuring reliability and performance.

The role emphasizes independent work, collaboration with senior staff, and continuous process improvement, with strong emphasis on .NET, JavaScript, APIs, and cloud readiness for enterprise environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, MIS, CS or 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • At least 5 years of hands‑on experience as an application developer with proficiency in .NET and JavaScript.
  • Experience in software design, development, and support.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and modern IT architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, coding, testing, and debugging of programs with varying complexity.
  • Configure and customize purchased software solutions to meet business needs.
  • Evaluate proposed software and program changes, assessing impact on performance and outcomes.

What You Will Do

What You Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; or 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • At least 5 years of hands‑on experience as an application developer, with proficiency in .net and JavaScript.
  • Proven experience in software design, development, and support.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and modern IT architecture is a plus.
Top Candidates Will Also Have
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience in integrating applications using APIs
  • Familiarity with cloud‑based development environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies to solve real‑world challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and tactfully.
  • Outstanding planning and organizational abilities.
  • Advanced analytical skills, with a talent for identifying multiple solutions to complex problems and recommending the best approach.
  • Proven capability to manage multiple projects of varying scope simultaneously.

  • Experience supporting IT‑related business and security processes.
  • Foundational web development skills, including experience with JavaScript frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of Java frameworks such as Hibernate and Spring.
  • Basic understanding of authentication protocols, including OAuth2.
  • Hands‑on Low code/no code development experience delivering enterprise business applications.
  • Experience migrating or modernizing .NET applications to low‑code platforms.
  • Experience developing applications that integrate with Teamcenter, SAP, Azure, and AWS.
  • Ability to lead application modernization initiatives from assessment through deployment.
  • Experience establishing reusable low‑code development standards and governance.
  • Demonstrated success reducing application support costs through application consolidation and modernization

Summary Pay Range

$112,710.00 - $183,140.00
