Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Information System Security Officer in Annapolis Junction to lead RMF/ATO efforts, mentor ISSOs, and drive security programs across development, operations, and modernization. The role requires active TS clearance with SCI eligibility and extensive DoD/government security experience.

Qualifications

• Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
• 12+ years with BS/BA; 10+ years with MS/MA; 4 extra years may substitute for BS.
• 8+ years in information security/compliance for DoD/IC/government systems; ownership of RMF deliverables and ATO events.
• Demonstrated leadership coordinating across security, engineering, and customer stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor team members and write risk decisions/packages.
• Deep understanding of continuous monitoring at scale (metrics, evidence, audit readiness).
• Hands-on RMF tasks and maintaining authorization artifacts (SSP, POA&M, evidence).
• Strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 mapping to technical implementations.
• Experience with vulnerability and configuration compliance workflows.
• Ability to communicate risk to both technical and non-technical leadership.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+.

Responsibilities

• Lead or co-lead ATO/reauthorization for complex boundary systems.
• Mentor junior ISSOs and shape security operations playbooks.
• Perform risk analysis and author formal recommendations to leadership.
• Drive security engineering outcomes through collaboration with internal teams.
• Brief senior stakeholders on security posture, risk trends, and readiness for authorization.
• Act as Senior ISSO across development, operations, and modernization.
• Maintain RMF activities: control implementation, evidence, POA&M, continuous monitoring.
• Maintain security artifacts: SSP, narratives, diagrams, inheritance controls, contingency plans.
• Oversee continuous monitoring: vulnerability management, patching, risk acceptance.
• Review changes for security impact and verify configurations post-upgrades.
• Support incident response and post-incident lessons learned.
• Ensure least privilege governance: access reviews and audit compliance.
• Translate security requirements into actionable engineering guidance.
