Job summary

U.S. Water Heating seeks a Principal Firmware Engineer (IoT) to lead firmware design, development, and maintenance for embedded platforms across multiple product lines. You will own platform architecture, requirements, and secure connectivity, while directing cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and QA.

Relocation assistance is available. The role is based in Indianapolis, IN with a hybrid work model (office Mon–Thu, remote Fri).

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or CS.
• 7+ years hands-on embedded firmware in C/C++ and assembly.
• Experience across full Firmware Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain firmware for embedded platforms.
• Lead architecture, requirements, and firmware development across product lines.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, cloud, and QA teams to ensure integration.
• Support validation, field readiness, and manufacturing launch activities.
• Lead design reviews and contribute to FMEA, DFM/DFT.
