Job summary

Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, iOS to join the App Growth team within the Core Experiences engineering group on a 3-month full-time contract. The role focuses on improving mobile Wikipedia experiences for a global audience, with design leadership for medium-sized projects and scalable components.

We operate as a fully remote team with a requirement to overlap 4 hours daily between 14:00 UTC and 21:00 UTC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's with 5-10+ years of experience building iOS applications.
• Strong experience with Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and iOS architectural patterns.
• Proven ability to optimize iOS performance across conditions.
• Experience working in a self-driven, lean environment.
• Commitment to Wikimedia Foundation mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of medium complexity initiatives from discovery through delivery, breaking work into features and managing scope.
• Lead system design for medium-sized iOS projects and build accessible, scalable components.
• Construct and maintain testable, observable code to enable deeper analysis by Product Analysts.
• Collaborate with product, design, analytics, and native engineers to balance user needs and technical constraints.
• Identify high-impact technical opportunities and align team priorities and timelines.
• Adhere to team standards in code review, design, testing, documentation, accessibility, observability, and decision-making.
