The State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) seeks an experienced investment management attorney to join its Legal Division in Madison. The role focuses on supporting SWIB’s hedge fund and external manager investments, including due diligence, structuring, negotiation, and ongoing management of sophisticated relationships.

The attorney will work with portfolio managers and investment professionals, provide cross-asset support, and help ensure compliance with SWIB policies and applicable law

Qualifikationen

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
• Approximately 8+ years of relevant legal experience at a major firm, institutional investor, or asset manager.
• Experience with private investment funds, hedge funds, and related documentation.
• Strong drafting and negotiation capabilities for sophisticated investments.

Aufgaben

• Lead legal advisory for SWIB’s hedge fund and external manager investments.
• Draft, review, and negotiate investment documentation and side letters.
• Negotiate protections, fees, liquidity, and regulatory terms for a governmental investor.
• Coordinate with internal teams on amendments, restructurings, and lifecycle matters.
• Provide strategic legal support across private funds and complex investment structures.
