Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6-10 years of relevant investment experience at a family office, endowment, foundation or asset manager.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous investment research and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into sound recommendations.
  • Deep understanding of investment theory, asset allocation, risk management, portfolio construction, and alternative investment strategies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills to communicate complex analysis clearly and succinctly.

BSC engages in a variety of investment activities on behalf of its owners, with investments spanning private equity, venture capital, hedge funds and a variety of public equity and fixed income securities.

Job Overview

BSC is seeking a Senior Investment Associate with broad public and private markets experience to join its investment team and report directly to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO). As a key member of a small, collaborative team at a leading family office, the Senior Investment Associate will support the full investment process, including sourcing and screening opportunities, evaluating investment strategies, conducting due diligence, developing financial and portfolio analyses, monitoring existing investments, and preparing board and other related investment materials.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, analytical, discreet, and committed to long-term investing. The role requires strong quantitative and qualitative skills, sound judgment in assessing risk, and the ability to translate high-level investment strategy into detailed analysis. The Senior Investment Associate will work closely with the CIO, contribute actively to investment discussions, and communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely. The successful candidate must be comfortable working as a self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial, small team environment. The role requires close collaboration with colleagues across Finance, Operations, Legal, and Technology to ensure alignment with the Company’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities And Objectives
Investment Research
  • Source, evaluate and lead execution on prospective investment opportunities across asset classes, strategies, sectors, and geographies
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative diligence on managers, direct investments, co-investments, and thematic opportunities
  • Build models, performance analyses, market maps, and investment frameworks to support investment decisions
  • Prepare concise investment memoranda and presentations for the Board of Directors, management, CIO, and other senior stakeholders
Manager Monitoring
  • Oversee existing manager relationships with CIO, by conducting regular updates
  • Evaluate investment results relative to appropriate benchmarks, peer groups and underwriting expectations, including attribution of key return drivers and detractors
  • Identify emerging concerns, elevate material issues promptly and recommend appropriate actions, including additional diligence, changes in exposure or redemption
Portfolio Analysis
  • Work with the Finance, Operations, Technology and Investment team to develop and refine the critical tools and analytic frameworks to support asset allocation, risk management, performance attribution, and liquidity management
  • Evaluate portfolio results relative to policy benchmarks, strategic objectives and long-term return and risk expectations
Board Reporting
  • Drive the continuous improvement of regular and ad-hoc materials for management and the Board of Directors
Qualifications
  • Highest standards of ethics, integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment
  • Minimum of 6-10 years of relevant investment experience at a family office, endowment, foundation or asset manager
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous investment research and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into sound recommendations
  • Deep understanding of investment and financial theory, asset allocation, risk management, portfolio construction, and alternative investment strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams, build partnerships, and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity and a passion for investing
  • A strong existing network across investment managers, allocators, family offices, advisors, and other private market participants
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex analysis clearly and succinctly
  • Familiarity with investment data providers and platforms such as Addepar, Arch, PitchBook, or similar tools
  • Bachelor’s degree required, strong credentials or a desire to pursue further credentials preferred (MBA/CFA/CAIA)

Salary

The base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $230,000 per year. This range reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. In addition, this position may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, and other compensation programs as applicable.
