About PSF

The Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF) is a constitutionally established education endowment created by Texas’ first Constitution in 1845 as a perpetual fund to support the state’s public schools, and it was seeded with $2 million in 1854. Since that time, the PSF has grown to more than $57 billion in assets and distributes over $2.4 billion annually to Texas K–12 schools. In 2021, the 87th Texas Legislature established the Texas Permanent School Fund Corporation (Texas PSF) as a stand‑alone, special‑purpose governmental corporation. Today, PSF manages its assets with a long‑term investment perspective to generate sustainable funding for public education. Through a diversified investment platform and strong operational, legal, financial, and governance functions, PSF serves as a careful steward of public capital, helping secure billions of dollars in school district bonds and supporting more than 5 million students across 1,000+ school districts statewide. Guided by principles of fiduciary responsibility, integrity, and service to Texans, PSF plays an enduring role in strengthening public education and investing in Texas’s future.
