Job Description

Role Overview

This role owns the tools, reporting and process infrastructure used by the West Elm Inventory Management teams across forecasting, Open-to-Buy, Investment Review, newness planning, reorders, AI adoption and planner support. The role keeps the current business running, improves user trust in the system outputs and helps translate system strategy into usable process for planners and managers.

The right candidate is both analytical and operational. They can validate data, diagnose process breaks, maintain system and Excel-based tools, train users and partner with Inventory Strategy, Planning, Merchandising, Distribution, Tech and cross-brand teams during the transition to future planning systems or processes.

Essential Functions
  • Own and maintain the reporting tools, dashboards and planning templates used by the Inventory Management team across forecasting, open-to-buy, seasonal planning, product launches, reorders, promotions and excess inventory
  • Ensure recurring business processes run accurately by refreshing data, validating formulas, checking outputs and preparing reports for planner, manager and leadership use
  • Support monthly planning and forecast review processes by building clear views of demand, sales, receipts, inventory, margin, channel mix, risk and opportunity
  • Validate data across planning systems, reporting platforms and source files to ensure business teams are working from accurate and consistent information
  • Troubleshoot system, reporting and process issues, then partner with technology teams and business users on fixes, testing, enhancements and post-release validation
  • Improve replenishment and reorder processes by supporting order recommendations, inventory flow logic, vendor constraints, location splits, order uploads and exception reporting
  • Support seasonal and investment planning by maintaining planning templates, validating product counts, reviewing demand adjustments and ensuring clean handoffs between process steps
  • Build standardized reporting views that reduce manual work and help users quickly identify business risks, opportunities and data quality issues
  • Maintain documentation, process calendars, file version control, training materials and user-facing resources for recurring planning workflows
  • Train planners and managers through practical documentation, short training sessions, troubleshooting guides and one-on-one support
  • Gather user feedback, manage a prioritized tools backlog and recommend process improvements that reduce manual work, improve speed and increase trust in system outputs
  • Drive AI adoption by helping manage internal AI tools, prompt libraries, process documentation, user access, training and practical workflow use cases
  • Translate complex system logic into clear business guidance for non-technical users and connect day-to-day process improvements to broader inventory strategy and future-system readiness
Benefits
  • A generous discount on all WSI brands
  • A 401(k) plan and other investment opportunities
  • Paid vacations, holidays, and time off to volunteer
  • Health benefits, dental and vision insurance, including same-sex domestic partner benefits

  • A wellness program that supports your physical, financial and emotional health
  • Continued learning through in-person and online opportunities via WSI University
  • Cross-brand and cross-function career opportunities
  • Resources for self-development
  • Advisor (Mentor) program
  • Career development workshops, learning programs, and speaker series
