The Senior Auditor position at The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia's Office of Audit and Compliance will lead or support risk-based audits across the Academic Division, performing risk assessments, testing transactions and controls, and communicating practical opportunities to strengthen performance with professionalism and integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, information systems, data analysis, or a related field.
• Two to three years in a staff auditor role with increasing responsibility; experience handling all phases of an audit independently is required.
• Knowledge of internal auditing standards and higher education environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and document significant risks and controls; propose testing approaches and engagement direction.
• Lead or support engagements; manage scope, timelines, and deliverables; provide coaching.
• Document and evaluate internal controls; prepare draft audit reports with evidence-based conclusions.
• Develop recommendations with audit clients to strengthen controls and processes.
• Build expertise in internal auditing and data analytics; collaborate across university units.
• Respond to inquiries and serve on committees; perform additional duties as assigned.
