Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to plan, direct, and coordinate cross‑functional audit projects, ICOFR testing, and strategic special assignments, delivering results that meet scope, schedule, and quality commitments.

You will lead audit teams, engage with senior management and business owners, advance internal controls, and partner with ERM to strengthen risk management and governance across the organization.

Formación

• 5+ years of related internal audit or equivalent experience.

The Impact You'll Have

In this position, you will plan and direct, as well as provide analytical and operational support for complex internal audit projects, Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) test work, and special projects. You will have significant project and reporting responsibilities. As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will plan, direct, and coordinate several cross-departmental audit projects simultaneously to address foundational and intricate operational and internal control issues, risk mitigation, and issue resolution. This includes the successful delivery of complex assignments within scope, schedule, and quality commitments.

What You'll Do

• Plan, lead, and coordinate complex audit projects from planning through reporting and follow-up, including ICOFR testing, and other special projects. Identify and analyze operational and internal control issues and risks and elevate both concerns and potential solutions appropriately. Prepare and present concise and effective reports to senior management concerning relevant issues and recommendations.
• Network with business leadership and serve as a resource on audit and internal control issues with enterprise impact. Support internal and external audit efforts related to NAIC regulations, statutory reporting requirements, and company policies. Maintain appropriate project documentation and review audit workpapers for completeness, quality, and adherence to department standards. Supervise, coach, and provide meaningful feedback to audit staff assigned to projects.
• Respectfully and collaboratively challenge business areas to embrace strong operational and internal control practices by establishing and maintaining positive working relationships. Leverage organizational knowledge and business acumen to develop effective virtual teams, lead through influence, and partner with business owners to successfully complete projects.

How You'll Do It

• Research and stay current on emerging business matters and audit regulations, issues, and topics within the health care industry to continuously improve Company and department practices. Collaborate with the Director of Internal Audit and other Internal Audit leadership to design and implement practices, processes, and tools that further the departments vision and objectives.
• Lead special projects, advisory engagements, and other assignments as requested by management and the Audit Committee.
• Provide recommendations to management that improve the effectiveness of operations. Support the corporate Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process through risk identification, analysis, assessment activities, and related reporting.
• Perform additional responsibilities consistent with the scope and level of the role, as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of related legal professional experience.
• Bachelors degree; in lieu of a degree, an additional two years of relevant experience beyond the qualifications listed above may be accepted.

• Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely, actively listen to anticipate stakeholder needs, and align others to drive informed decisions.
• Ability to analyze complex information, evaluate options, and work cross-functionally to drive resolution and prevent recurrence.
• Ability to leverage technology to communicate and analyze, complex information, anticipate stakeholder needs, and align others to drive resolution.
• Ability to effectively organize work, balance competing priorities, and manage time across complex assignments and competing deadlines.
• Previous experience performing internal audits and controls testing.
• Healthcare or health insurance industry experience.
• Experience in public accounting.
• Proficient in the use of data analytics and artificial intelligence tools (e .g Copilot, Claude, PowerBI).

Licensure/Certifications

Nice to Have:

• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Or other applicable certification

Hybrid

Role designation definition:

• Teleworking is working full time remote.
• Hybrid is a minimum of 2 days onsite.
• Onsite is full-time onsite.

Compensation and Benefits

$90,800.00 - $120,300.00 - $149,800.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
