Job summary

FORTIS Resource Partners is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor for a large Orange County employer. The role combines on-site and remote work with a hybrid schedule (3-4 days on-site) in Irvine, CA.

You will lead audits across operations, finance, and distribution, ensuring GAAP compliance and robust internal controls. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of internal operational audit experience (manufacturing or blue-collar environments preferred), strong communication skills, and CPA/CIA/CISA

Qualifications

• 3+ years Internal Operational Audit experience in manufacturing/distribution or blue-collar environments is preferred.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls development.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 20-25% within CA and neighboring states."

Responsibilities

• Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control over operations’ effectiveness and compliance.
• Oversee internal controls and risk indicators; conduct risk-based audits.
• Develop annual audit plans and determine scope of audits.
• Evaluate policies and procedures at corporate offices and distribution centers.
• Design controls to remediate gaps and improve efficiency.
• Document work and present findings to management.
• Follow up on implementation of recommendations.
• Examine accounting records for deficiencies, fraud, or non-compliance with GAAP.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations
• Oversee internal controls, review risk indicators, and performing analysis and risk-based audits
• Determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans
• Evaluate and examine policies and procedures/systems in place at the corporate office and distribution centers
• Design and develop controls/processes that mitigate and/or remediate gaps identified
• Examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, fraud, or non-compliance with GAAP, laws, regulations, and management policies
• Document work performed and present findings identified
• Constantly challenge the status quo and look for ways to improve operational efficiency
• Follow up on the progress of implementation of recommendations and directions to the management of the corporate office and business unit sites
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years Internal Operational Audit experience
• Internal Operational Audit experience in manufacturing/distribution or other blue collar environment will be given priority
• Lean / Six Sigma process improvement a plus
• Knowledge of US GAAP
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication/presentation skills and able to build and maintain strong relationships
• Detail-oriented and results-driven self-starter with strong multitasking and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel up to 20-25% (1 x month) within California and neighboring states
• CPA, CIA, or CISA preferred
