Job summary

Multistudio, a collective of designers and architects, is seeking a Senior Interior Designer for our Kansas City studio. In this lead role you’ll guide project design, mentor the interiors team, and maintain close client communication to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

You’ll drive design visioning, concepts, and documentation, ensure code compliance, coordinate with contractors and consultants, and support business development through client relationships and proposals.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Interior Architecture.
• NCIDQ certification (preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of interiors experience.
• Experience with high-design projects.
• Strong client and team communication, and consultant coordination.
• Ability to generate new ideas independently or collaboratively.
• Ability to lead multiple teams across project phases.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor junior associates to develop innovative design concepts.
• Manage interiors projects and teams, including client communications, timelines, budgets.
• Lead client presentations and act as main client contact.
• Ensure design compliance with codes, accessibility standards and regulations.
• Elevate knowledge of innovative materials and sustainable strategies.
• Oversee production of construction documents and detailed drawings with QC checks.
• Coordinate directly with contractors, architects, and engineers to meet deadlines.
• Support business development through networking and proposals.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time Senior Interior Designer for our Kansas City studio location. In this role you’ll have a lead position in project design, interiors team management, and client communication. You’ll lead design visioning, concepts and documentation and oversee consistency and quality to final execution. You’ll ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. You’ll partner closely with interiors leadership to strengthen the firm’s reputation through thought leadership, business development and strategic planning efforts.

• Oversee the production and execution of high quality construction documents and detailed drawings by conducting thorough quality control checks throughout the project.
• Coordinate directly with contractors, architects, and engineers to ensure that the design is executed and deadlines are met.
• Support business development through networking and client acquisition, contributing to proposal development and RFP responses.

What You Bring

• Professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Interior Architecture
• Certification as licensed professional, preferred NCIDQ.
• Minimum of 10 years’ interiors related experience
• Experience working with high-design projects
• Strong skills in client and team communication, design, and consultant coordination
• Ability to create and communicate new ideas both independently and in collaboration
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment and be flexible to lead or mentor numerous teams in any project phase
