The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Finance is recruiting for a full-time Sr. Insurance Verification Representative in Miami, FL.

The role ensures insurance eligibility and authorization across contracted and non-contracted carriers to facilitate reimbursement for services rendered. Core duties include verifying eligibility with patients and payers, obtaining authorizations, updating financial classifications, responding to inquiries, and training new staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent or relevant experience with certifications preferred.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Proficient in standard office software and tools.

Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance information with patients for scheduled appointments and contacts payer to verify eligibility and authorization requirements.
• Adds or updates financial status classifications in appropriate systems.
• Obtains authorizations and referrals from payers when needed.
• Generates and links referrals to visits once authorization is obtained.
• Responds to inquiries regarding insurance coverage and claims processing.
• Links alternate insurance payers to the correct programs during registration.
• Identifies non-contracted payers and refers to appropriate department.
• Acts as lead Insurance Verification Representative and assists in training new staff.
• Follows policies to safeguard University assets.
