Job summary

Oliver James Group is seeking a Senior Accountant for a P&C insurance client in the Chicago area. This role offers remote work with periodic in-person meetings and a strong path into FP&A, budgeting and reporting.

You will support month-end close, GAAP reporting, NAIC filings, and build models to inform business decisions, with opportunities to broaden responsibilities and collaborate with senior finance leadership.

Qualifications

• CPA or equivalent accounting qualification.
• Several years of relevant experience.
• Direct P&C insurance accounting or external insurance audit experience.
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling.
• Strong accounting fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Financial reporting and control: support month-end close, US GAAP reporting, reconciliations and policy development.
• Insurance reporting: contribute to statutory accounting and NAIC filings.
• Planning and analysis: budgets, forecasts and cash flow models.
• Management reporting: analysis and commentary for senior leadership.
• Business partnering: collaborate across finance and underwriting.
• Process improvement: design workflows and automate manual work.
