Job summary

Brilliant is seeking a Senior Insurance Accountant near Chicago, IL to join our client’s finance team. The role focuses on transactional accounting related to premiums, commissions, and losses feeding into statutory reporting.

Responsibilities include reviewing GL transactions, assisting with daily tasks, wire/ACH processing, monthly close, and coordinating with external auditors. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and insurance systems knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving reconciliation, ledger and reporting issues.
• Insurance industry knowledge and a working knowledge of insurance systems preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and learn quickly.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Provide backup assistance for daily accounting tasks such as deposits, invoice entry, billing and collections, prepaid and deferred items, or fixed assets.
• Initiate wire and ACH transactions and prepare bank transactions as well as assist in escheat process.
• Review and report on monthly close checklist items within required timeline and provide backup where necessary on close items and is responsible for modifications to the close checklist to support financial statements.
• Manage aspects of the annual audit by working closely with external auditors and staff to complete open item requests.
