Senior Engineer – Software Development

KLA is a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing solutions, providing advanced metrology and inspection products.

Job Responsibilities

• Drive the design, development, testing, and rollout of software solutions that enhance KLA inspection machines.
• Develop a deep understanding of the system and create software solutions for critical customer gaps or issues.
• Develop and evaluate concepts and designs for next‑generation systems through trade‑off studies, risk identification, and mitigation planning.
• Collaborate with a geographically distributed team and with hardware and service engineers to capture requirements and build solutions that meet those needs.
• Lead and mentor other engineers throughout the product development cycle.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of OOP, design patterns, data structures, distributed systems, and multi‑threaded/multi‑process programming.
• Understanding of functional programming trade‑offs versus OOP.
• Proven ability to navigate complex technical, functional, and non‑functional requirements to deliver high‑quality solutions.
• Proficiency in writing, deploying, and maintaining production code in C++, Python, or Java.
• Experience working with large, subsystem‑based systems and interfacing between components.
• Ability to translate abstract problem statements into concrete requirements and design.
• Experience with large data ETL pipelines, storage, or visualization use cases.
• Doctorate (Academic) with no required work experience.
• Master’s degree with 3 years related work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years related work experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Pay Range: $105,900 – $180,000 annually (USA, Michigan – Ann Arbor).
