Job summary

Ellaway Blues Consulting is seeking a Sr. Instrumentation Engineer for a client in Dallas, Texas. The role focuses on hands-on instrumentation design, specifications, and project leadership within a large multi-discipline program.

You will mentor junior engineers, review vendor deliverables, and uphold standards for safety and reliability while driving continuous improvement across the project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in industrial instrumentation design, specification, and validation.
• Proficiency with P&IDs, loop drawings, I/O lists, and instrumentation documentation.
• 3+ years developing or influencing instrumentation standards and best practices.
• Familiarity with Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, etc.
• Knowledge of hazardous area classifications (explosion-proof, intrinsically safe).

Responsibilities

• Lead instrumentation engineering from design through commissioning and optimization.
• Develop and review instrumentation specs, datasheets, requisitions, and bid evaluations.
• Conduct design reviews of vendor/contractor deliverables and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with EHS, Process, Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls teams for system integration.
• Oversee sourcing and implementation of instrumentation packages with supply chain partners.
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical development and design reviews.
• Promote continuous improvement and technical excellence across the project.

This role is ideal for an experienced instrumentation SME who enjoys hands-on engineering, complex technical challenges, and shaping standards for a large-scale, multi-discipline project

Responsibilities:

• Leading instrumentation engineering from conceptual design through commissioning and ongoing optimization.

• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, etc.).
• Strong understanding of hazardous area classifications (explosion-proof, intrinsically safe, etc.).
• Familiarity with 3D model review, conduit/tray routing, and installation detail development.
