Job summary

FuelCell Energy, a leader in decarbonizing power and hydrogen production, is seeking a Staff Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to design and deliver fuel cell–based systems. The role emphasizes instrumentation, valves, field devices, and PLC/HMI software development, operating with autonomy on multiple projects from design through commissioning.

You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and operations teams, lead safety and control system reviews, and mentor engineers while

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
10+ years in instrumentation and controls engineering.
Independent technical contributor or technical lead for instrumentation and valve design, specification, and field issue resolution.
Strong PLC and HMI programming experience across projects.

Responsibilities

Lead selection, specification, and application of instrumentation and field devices.
Define control system architectures and PLC-based control.
Lead PLC and HMI software design, development, and commissioning.
Review instrumentation design documentation (P&IDs, loop diagrams, datasheets).
Support system testing, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
