Job Overview
Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer – Locations: Austin, TX; Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; Des Moines, IA; Minneapolis, MN. Hybrid work. Requisition ID 11187. Seeking 10+ years experience in control systems engineering across municipal water/wastewater, power plants, industrial automation, microgrid, CHP, universities, campuses, and industrial facilities.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing systems and participate in the design of plant control and instrumentation systems for diverse industrial applications.
- Design and configure Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Work with P&IDs, I/O lists, instrument data sheets, cable schedules, procurement specifications, logic and SAMA diagrams; bid evaluation and construction support.
- Collaborate with site engineering group during installation and commissioning of control systems.
- Collect, interpret, and analyze data from reports, drawings, and tests to support project planning and design.
- Prepare and review design computations, quantity estimates, project documentation, drawings, and technical specifications in compliance with engineering standards.
- Direct designers/technicians converting designs into working drawings with technical accuracy.
- Evaluate design alternatives and recommend solutions based on analysis, cost‑effectiveness, and project requirements.
- Participate in client communications; attend onsite/off‑site meetings to discuss technical requirements and deliverable status.
- Respond to client inquiries and requests for information promptly.
- Maintain project documentation: calculations, correspondence, meeting minutes, technical memoranda.
- Ensure adherence to Stanley Consultants quality assurance and control standards per the quality manual.
Qualifications
- Education & Licensure
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution; BSEE preferred.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam taken and passed.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred but not required; must be able to attain PE license.
- Experience
- Minimum of 4 years progressive experience in engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience with engineering design, analysis, and construction administration.
- Experience with project coordination and multi‑disciplinary team collaboration.
