Job summary

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in Troy, NY is seeking an experienced Instrument Engineer to support cGMP manufacturing instrumentation, specify components, and ensure instruments are fit-for-purpose for production of life-changing medicines.

You will manage projects from initiation to close, write and execute test plans, review automated system inputs/outputs, and lead investigations with root cause analyses. Strong biopharma equipment knowledge and leadership capabilities are highly valued.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Engineering; Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 5 years experience for Senior level; 8 years for Principal level.
• Experience with common process instrumentation (load cells, pressure sensors, pH sensors, DO sensors, temp sensors, flow meters, UV analyzers, conductivity, TOC, level sensors).
• Ability to manage multiple projects with tight timelines while maintaining attention to detail.
• Biopharmaceutical process equipment experience is highly desirable.
• Understanding of process control systems and automation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate as a project manager; plan, execute, and close projects within scope, time, and budget constraints.
• Specify cGMP process instrumentation, components, and spare parts.
• Set priorities for and complete Calibration Range and Tolerance Justifications forms for new instruments.
• Evaluate new instruments for Functional Equivalence to existing instrumentation that has become obsolete.
• Review and approve input/output lists for automated systems.
• Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex instrumentation and associated systems.
• Create and maintain configuration specifications for cGMP manufacturing equipment.
• Assist in the design review of equipment, and approved supplier lists for instrumentation.
• Write and execute test plans to demonstrate instrument suitability.
• Implement corrective/preventative actions for existing equipment.
• Prepare engineering evaluations and test plans for change control documentation.
• Possibly supervise engineering contractors.
