Job summary

The City of New Orleans is seeking a professional investigator to plan, direct, and execute citywide investigations into fraud, waste, and abuse of public funds. You will serve as a technical liaison with multi-jurisdictional legal authorities for highly complex investigations involving executive agencies.

Responsibilities include interviewing witnesses, conducting field investigations and surveillance, and presenting findings; drafting subpoenas and testifying in proceedings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, criminal justice, social science or a closely related field.*
• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university.*
• Three (3) years of criminal justice or law enforcement experience.
• A valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and execute citywide investigations to prevent and detect fraud, waste and abuse of governmental programs and city funds.
• Interview witnesses and subjects; conduct field investigations and surveillance; report findings.
• Draft subpoenas and summons requests; testify at hearings and legal proceedings.
