Job summary

HNTB Corporation in Macon, GA is seeking an experienced inspector to perform daily construction inspection duties on diverse projects. You will document work, verify conformance with plans and specs, and coordinate actions with the contractor and superintendent.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 9 years of construction-related experience, with NICET IV preferred. You may mentor junior staff and participate in on-site material testing as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents and plans.
• Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
• Advises Contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract.
• Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor.
• Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date.
• Reviews Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
• Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches.
• May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Prepares daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by contractor and reviews periodical pay estimates with contractor for accuracy. Prepares sketches and assembles data for Field Engineer to utilize when making changes to the project. May participate in the mentoring, development, and evaluation of staff inspectors.

What You'll Need:

• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.

What We Prefer:

• National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level IV.
