Job summary

SHL Medical in North Charleston, SC, is seeking an experienced Injection Molding Technician/Leader to join our state-of-the-art device manufacturing facility. This role embeds in Production / Injection Molding with opportunities for extended Taiwan induction/training.

You will operate and maintain injection molding equipment, lead production schedules, ensure safety and environmental requirements, and mentor technicians while driving continuous improvement in a highly automated 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; AAS or similar education preferred.
• 5+ years proven track record in injection molding.
• Experience supporting event response activities in highly automated production.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain Injection Molding/Automation equipment to achieve production goals.
• Set up, operate/process, maintain, monitor and control injection molding equipment including resin drying and conveying, injection molding machines, hot runners and molds, fluid temperature control systems and robot/automation
• Lead execution of production schedule to achieve production goals
• Maintain controlled areas and environmental monitoring in injection molding production
• Lead and actively participate in production event response
• Lead review and author SOPs and other documents as required
• Assist during equipment maintenance including mold & robot end of arm & IMM restoration
• Ensure event response and production operations are correctly documented in SAP
• Lead development of the device assembly process team by training technicians
• Lead teams in problem-solving to establish root cause analysis & resolve equipment issues
• Partner with Process Owners on improvements to equipment/work practices
• Record/review production data per SHL work instructions
• Follow safety and environmental requirements
• Support system/equipment reliability improvement projects
• Other duties as assigned

Job Overview

This role is embedded in Production / Injection Molding of our new state-of-the-art device manufacturing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina. For interested candidates there will be an opportunity to initially spend an extended period in our facility in Taiwan for induction/training.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain Injection Molding/Automation equipment to achieve production goals.
• Set up, operate/process, maintain, monitor and control injection molding equipment including resin drying and conveying, injection molding machines, hot runners and molds, fluid temperature control systems and robot/automation
• Lead execution of production schedule to achieve production goals
• Maintain controlled areas and environmental monitoring in injection molding production
• Lead and actively participate in production event response
• Lead review and author SOP’s and other documents, as required
• Assist during equipment maintenance, including mold & robot end of arm & IMM restoration, predictive and preventative maintenance
• Ensure all event response and production operations activities are correctly documented in SAP
• Lead the growth & development of the device assembly process team by training fellow technicians in areas of expertise as well as learning new systems
• Lead teams in Systematic Problem-Solving tools to establish Root Cause Analysis & resolve equipment issues
• Partner with Process Owners on practical changes or improvements to equipment & department work practices
• Record/review production data and activities per SHL work instructions
• Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
• Support and implement system/equipment reliability improvement projects
• Other accountabilities, as assigned

Skills And Qualification

• High school diploma or equivalent required (AAS degree in related field preferred, or equivalent military training or industrial training or an equivalent combination of education experience)
• Knowledge/experience in the following areas: crane operation, compressed air/pneumatic actuators and systems, electro-mechanical controls, robotics, optical sensor systems, resin drying, molds, fluid thermal control systems, hot runners and injection molding machines
• 5+ years proven track record in injection molding
• Demonstrated ability to support & actively participate in event response activities in highly automated / 24/7 production settings
