BarkleyOKRP is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own legacy operations while shaping modern cloud strategies. You will manage production Linux VMs, MySQL 5.7, and Java/Tomcat, and collaborate on scalable cloud architectures using GCP, BigQuery, Docker, and Kubernetes.

The role emphasizes incident response, automation, and security. Remote US-based with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in System Administration, SRE, or Infra Ops in an enterprise.
• Deep Linux administration, tuning, and troubleshooting (incl. ZFS).
• Production experience with Java/Tomcat in live environments.
• Strong MySQL 5.7 knowledge: backups, replication, tuning.
• Shell scripting and lightweight automation (Bash).
• GCP experience: Cloud SQL and BigQuery usage.
• Docker and Kubernetes for containerized stacks.
• Terraform and modern CI/CD deployment workflows.
• Calm under pressure with clear communication during outages.

Responsibilities

• Incident Response & Operational Stability: own incident lifecycle for production systems.
• Performance Monitoring & Debugging: monitor logs and health with observability tools.
• Legacy Infrastructure Management: maintain and secure VMs on GCP.
• Legacy Database Operations & Health: monitor MySQL 5.7, backups, and pools.
• Cloud Architecture & Modernization: design and scale cloud infra with modern tools.
• Automation & IaC: replace manual tasks with automation scripts and IaC.
• Security & Compliance: enforce security baselines and patching.
