Job summary

Bloomberg is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and scale the Customer Distribution Infrastructure in New York. You will work on high-throughput, fault-tolerant systems handling billions of lookups daily, spanning backend services, caches, and observability.

You will optimize latency, implement data governance, and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable data propagation. A degree in CS or equivalent and experience with caching platforms and distributed systems are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent work experience in CS/engineering/maths.
• Experience with high-scale caching and data access layers.
• Proven expertise in system design and low-latency data access.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and observability.

Responsibilities

• Scale local and remote caching layers to ensure low-latency data retrieval.
• Architect Kubernetes-friendly caching solutions for cloud-native clients.
• Revamp the Customer Record data model to support evolving business processes.
• Implement data governance and privacy frameworks.
• Optimize update flows and database replication while reducing race conditions.
• Establish SLOs/SLAs and build observability via Grafana dashboards and latency analysis.
• Collaborate with engineering, product and business stakeholders to build scalable infrastructure.
