Job summary

CHAOS Industries seeks an experienced Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to lead security engineering for classified information systems across multiple security boundaries. You will own the security architecture from initial design through A&A and sustained monitoring after ATO.

Responsibilities include RMF-aligned architecture, vulnerability management using Nessus/ACAS/SCAP, and STIG enforcement across Windows, Linux, and network infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 7+ years of Information Assurance/Information System Security experience.
• Master’s degree plus 5 years of relevant experience.
• DoD 8140 Cyber Workforce IAT Level 2 or IAM Level 1 certification.
• Strong knowledge of RMF, STIGs, system hardening, network security, vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

• Design and document system security architecture for classified and unclassified Information Systems per RMF (NIST 800-37), ICD 503, DoD overlays.
• Conduct and review security assessments, manage patches, risk analysis and vulnerability scans (Nessus, ACAS, SCAP).
• Evaluate changes to hardware, software, and firmware for security impact; approve/reject per CM process.
• Oversee implementation and validation of STIG/SRG hardening across Windows, Linux, and networks.
• Run and interpret vulnerability scans; triage and drive remediation with engineering teams.
• Maintain continuous monitoring strategy post-ATO; track control effectiveness and drift.
• Support incident response for accredited systems with root-cause analysis and reporting.
