Job summary

General Atomics in Herndon, VA, seeks an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to join the Classified Systems team. Under supervision, you will monitor and administer IT security to meet company, regulatory, and customer requirements.

The role emphasizes vulnerability management, DoD/IC policy compliance, and the deployment of secure configurations across Windows and Red Hat environments. This position requires a Top Secret clearance and readiness for extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and six or more years of progressive professional experience in information assurance.
• Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with SAP & SCI eligibility.
• Must maintain DoD 8570 IAM Level I (e.g., Security+) certification as required by customers or contractual obligations.
• Security+ certification required.
• Experience with DoD policy such as Risk Management Framework and Joint SAP Implementation Guide.
• Operational experience with installing, troubleshooting, and auditing Windows desktop & server operating systems.
• Experience with DISA STIGs, SCAP tool, ACAS.
• Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them in an evolving environment while contributing to process development.

Responsibilities

• Conducts ongoing vulnerability assessments and security audits to identify cybersecurity risks per DoD/DOE/IC standards.
• Drives improvements to mitigate identified risks.
• Implements cybersecurity requirements for LAN/WAN hardware and network devices (Cisco IOS).
• Builds and maintains workstations and servers (Windows, Red Hat Linux).
• Builds virtualization infrastructure using VMware or HyperV.
• Monitors information systems for indicators of compromise and insider threats.
• Performs analysis of vulnerabilities and leads remediation action plans.
• Reviews security documentation and informs management of risks and mitigations.
• Leads use of Splunk Enterprise, Nessus, STIGs, and ACAS to ensure configuration compliance.
