Job summary

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain the security posture of our information systems.

Based at Wright-Patterson AFB, you will work with IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to embed security across capability development and operations. The ideal candidate has extensive information security experience, cloud security knowledge, scripting skills, and familiarity with NIST and other standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in information security engineering or a related role.
• Strong understanding of security principles, technologies, and best practices.
• Experience with security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR and vulnerability scanners.
• Knowledge of network security protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs).
• Experience with cloud security concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Scripting experience (Python, PowerShell) for automation.
• Experience with Windows, Linux and virtualization.
• Knowledge of cryptography and encryption technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement security architectures and designs aligned with best practices and compliance.
• Conduct security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses and mitigate identified risks.
• Evaluate and select security technologies; create SSPs, SCAs, and ST&E reports.
• Configure and maintain security tools including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR and scanners.
• Enforce security policies; automate security tasks and integrate controls across systems.
• Monitor security logs and respond to incidents promptly.
• Investigate incidents and develop remediation plans.
• Participate in incident response activities and maintain IR plans.
• Ensure compliance with NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI DSS and GDPR.
• Develop security awareness training and mentor staff.
