Job summary

Merck & Co. is seeking a Senior Information Architect to lead design and standardization of scientific data across pre-clinical discovery and manufacturing processes.

You will collaborate with scientists, process engineers, and IT to harmonize biological, chemical, and operational data into GxP-compliant data lakes. The role focuses on ontologies, data models, and data governance, with hands-on experience in RDF/OWL/SPARQL and knowledge graphs.

Qualifications

• Education in Life Sciences, CS, Bioinformatics, or Information Science.
• 5+ years as Information Architect or similar in Biopharma or Life Sciences.
• Experience with ontologies, semantic web tech (RDF/OWL/SPARQL), and knowledge graphs.
• Ability to translate data needs into reusable data models and data products.
• Understanding pre-clinical discovery and manufacturing data contexts.

Responsibilities

• Understand stakeholder outcomes and extract insights from data.
• Embed in product teams to adopt ontologies and data models.
• Define data and metadata standards to improve data quality.
• Lead adoption of BAO and other ontologies for datasets and processes.
• Develop best practices for information capture across research processes.
