Job summary

Ultium Cells LLC, a joint venture between LG Energy Solution and General Motors, seeks a Sr. Purchasing Specialist to manage indirect and materials procurement for plant operations and capital projects in Troy, MI.

The role coordinates with Production, Facilities, Engineering, Project Management and EHS, may involve travel, and requires strong negotiation, vendor management and data analysis skills. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of purchasing experience, preferably

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, accounting, finance, economics or related field.
• 5+ years purchasing experience including raw materials and indirect purchasing (equipment, MRO, construction).
• SAP experience preferred.
• Ability to analyze data and prepare reports, statements and projections.
• Experience in automotive or automated manufacturing environment preferred.
• Bilingual Korean and English (speaking & writing) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate, report, and purchase from US and foreign vendors.
• Determine shipping methods for materials and equipment.
• Verify contents against records to ensure accuracy of shipments.
• Prepare documents like work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders.
• Record shipment data for reporting and recordkeeping purposes.
• Establish and administer service contracts throughout project lifecycles.
• Verify contractor compliance requirements (insurance, bonding, safety).
• Additional duties as assigned.
