Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Product Cybersecurity Engineer focused on secure product architecture for in-vehicle communications. You will own the security design across SecOC, in-vehicle firewalls, and Ethernet, translating threat analyses into actionable requirements for engineering and suppliers.

You will lead reviews, keep designs current with vehicle timelines, and serve as the security SME to scale secure communication practices across programs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in product, embedded, or vehicle cybersecurity with hands-on security design ownership.
• Strong knowledge of in-vehicle security including message authentication, firewalls, and automotive Ethernet.
• Understanding of secure communication, key/certificate lifecycle, replay protection, and secure provisioning.
• Experience translating security design into technical requirements for internal teams and suppliers.
• Ability to lead security design and implementation reviews with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the security design for in-vehicle communications (SecOC, firewalls, Ethernet).
• Translate threat assessments into clear, testable security requirements for teams.
• Align requirements with supplier and platform capabilities and adjust scope as needed.
• Lead security design reviews across internal teams and suppliers to ensure proper controls.
• Keep security design aligned with software-defined vehicle timelines and platform changes.
• Serve as SME for in-vehicle communications security and build scalable self-service references.
