Job summary

Her Justice in New York City seeks a Senior Immigration Staff Attorney to provide comprehensive immigration services for low‑income women and gender‑diverse clients, including survivors of violence. You will handle consultations, brief services, and small direct representation, while mentoring volunteers and developing trainings for pro bono efforts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing immigration law with direct client services.
• Strong knowledge of immigration law, policy, and procedure and risk assessment.
• Experience representing clients in humanitarian immigration matters and relief options.
• Experience serving low-income or underserved communities.
• Ability to mentor attorneys, students, or volunteers in immigration practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client consultations and assess legal issues for brief services or pro bono placement.
• Provide client-centered, trauma-informed legal services to survivors of intimate partner violence and gender‑diverse clients.
• Maintain a small direct representation caseload and develop case strategies for relief and filings.
• Prepare cases for placement with volunteer attorneys and monitor case progress.
• Develop trainings and resources for volunteer attorneys and support legal clinics and pro bono initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Immigration Practice leadership to stay current on developments and improve practice practices.
