Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care’s Radiology department is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist to perform and teach specialized general diagnostic radiography procedures using complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring. The role covers multiple hospital areas including Adult and Pediatric Radiology, ER, OR, fluoroscopy, and orthopedic clinics.

PRN schedule, with responsibilities in instruction, patient care, and data management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate, adjust, and manipulate general diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain, operate and troubleshoot and report equipment failures.
• Instruct trainees, students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
• Explain examination process to patients.
• Ensure patients' welfare and assist physician with medical procedures.
• Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation, IV placement, vital sign monitoring and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
• Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.

Senior Imaging Technologist - PRN

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology is seeking Senior Imaging Technologists to perform and teach specialized general diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during exam. Also, to perform general radiography procedures in multiple areas within the hospital including Adult and Pediatric Radiology, emergency room, OR, fluoroscopy and orthopedic clinic.

Duties Include:

• Operate, adjust, and manipulate general diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain, operate and trouble-shoot and report equipment failures.
• Instruct trainees, students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
• Explain examination process to patients.
• Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures
• Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vital sign monitoring and recording, and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
• Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.

Salary

Range between $25 - $35 an hour depending on experience

Experience Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Certification Requirements

• Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
• Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in a level 1 Trauma center is desired
