Job summary

The Washington Post is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to bolster identity, access and enterprise IT services across our organization. You will lead IAM initiatives, automate provisioning and support integrations across major platforms.

You will work with Cybersecurity, Legal and HR to translate security requirements into practical solutions and improve service reliability. On-site collaboration and technical leadership are key aspects of this role.

Qualifications

Five+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering or IAM.
Advanced knowledge of AD, Okta, SSO, MFA, provisioning and RBAC.
Experience administering Google Workspace in large/complex env.
Hands-on in integrating enterprise systems, SaaS apps, HR platforms, ITSM.
Proficient in scripting (Python/JavaScript/Bash/PowerShell/Google Apps Script).
Experience with REST APIs and troubleshooting system integrations.
Experience implementing identity, endpoint, configurations or access controls with security/compliance teams.
Experience supporting ITSM, CMDB, asset management, endpoint management, storage or collaboration platforms.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; able to work independently and mentor others.
Ability to document procedures and provide technical guidance without formal authority.
Familiarity with infrastructure as code, version control, CI/CD preferred.
Experience with data-retention, e-discovery or information governance preferred.

Responsibilities

Administer and improve Identity and Access Management services (AD, Okta, SSO, MFA, RBAC).
Design automated provisioning, deprovisioning and access-change workflows.
Develop integrations among Workday, Okta, AD, Google Workspace, Proofpoint, ServiceNow.
Engineer and support enterprise platforms including Google Workspace and ITSM tools.
Automate recurring admin tasks using APIs and scripting.
Troubleshoot complex incidents across IAM, endpoints and enterprise apps.
Collaborate with Cybersecurity and Compliance on security configurations.
Support data retention, legal holds and e-discovery with Legal and data owners.
Contribute to upgrades, integration projects and runbooks for reliability.
