Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior ICT Designer to evaluate, design, and document ICT systems across building environments. You will influence fiber, cabling, and security system decisions while delivering complete construction documents and collaborating with project teams.

With 10+ years in security design and familiarity with Autodesk, you will contribute to a culture of inclusion and employee ownership, supporting HDR's mission to shape the built environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in security system design with Autodesk familiarity.
  • RCDD is helpful.
  • Active participant in employee-owned culture is required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and apply ICT systems, techniques, and designs.
  • Design ICT systems including fiber/backbones, cabling pathways.
  • Produce complete construction documents.
  • Independently perform ICT engineering assignments under Project Manager guidance.
  • Write specifications and review with owners as part of the project team.
  • Assist other team members across all design phases.
  • Perform QA/QC on peers' work.
  • Contribute to security design process throughout.

In the role of Senior ICT Designer, we'll count on you to:
  • Evaluate, select and apply state-of-the-art ICT system, techniques, procedures, design and modifications
  • Design and specify ICT systems including but not limited to fiber optic backbones, horizontal cabling, bonding and cabling pathways
  • Take responsibility for complete set of construction documents
  • Understand that assignments have objectives that require investigation of many variables
  • Independently perform ICT engineering assignments with broad general instruction from Project Manager as to the results expected
  • Select and recommend procedures, ICT devices and equipment; write specifications covering all ICT system matters; perform reviews and work directly with owners as a part of project team
  • Assist other Designers, Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed, and be responsible for work in all phases of security design process
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPP certification
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in security system design and familiarity with Autodesk
  • RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) helpful
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
