Job summary

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior IBM i Series / IBM Power Systems Engineer to join our infrastructure and platform services team. You will implement, migrate, support, and optimize IBM Power Systems and IBM i Series environments for enterprise customers.

The role covers hardware deployment, OS migrations, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience supporting and administering IBM Power Systems and IBM i Series (AS/400) environments.
• Expertise in IBM Power hardware installation, maintenance, and infrastructure management.
• Deep knowledge of IBM i OS administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and system recovery.
• Hands-on experience with HMC administration.
• Experience performing firmware, OS, and PTF upgrades.
• Proven experience building and configuring LPARs and restoring systems from physical and virtual media.
• Knowledge of CL, SQL, COBOL, and RPG programming languages.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute IBM i platform implementation projects with customers.
• Deliver projects aligned with customer requirements and timelines.
• Perform IBM Power server installations, hardware deployment, racking, and commissioning.
• Plan and execute IBM i OS migrations, upgrades, and environment transformations.
• Provide regular project updates to stakeholders and explain technical concepts clearly.
• Develop and maintain documentation and best practices for IBM i environments.
• Troubleshoot complex IBM i infrastructure and OS issues.
• Support after-hours maintenance, migrations, and critical customer requirements.
• Travel to customer locations for onsite installations and migrations.
