Job summary

Leidos is actively interviewing for a Senior Hyperspectral Image Scientist to join our team in Springfield, VA. The role leads analysis, exploitation, and interpretation of hyperspectral/multispectral imagery for government missions, with on-site support at a government facility.

Responsibilities include developing spectral-based algorithms, calibrating and preprocessing data, and preparing reports for stakeholders. Requires TS/SCI and strong communication skills for technical briefings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a remote sensing/geospatial field and 8–12 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with hyperspectral/multispectral exploitation in government/DoD or related domains.
• Strong knowledge of spectral phenomenology, imaging spectroscopy, and remote sensing principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, evaluation, and application of hyperspectral analysis methodologies.
• Exploit hyperspectral/multispectral datasets to identify and classify materials and activities.
• Develop and validate spectral-based algorithms for detection, unmixing, and change detection.
• Perform preprocessing: radiometric, atmospheric, and geometric corrections.
• Build spectral libraries, support signature analysis, and endmember extraction.
• Integrate hyperspectral analytics with GEOINT and other data sources.
• Prepare technical reports and briefings for government stakeholders.
• Advise leadership on capabilities, limitations, and best practices.
