Job summary

The Washington State Department of Ecology is hiring a Senior Hydrogeologist (Hydrogeologist 4) in the Water Quality Program. The role involves applying hydrogeologic knowledge to protect Washington’s water resources and support permitting decisions statewide.

You will work on groundwater evaluations, reclaimed water topics, and industrial wastewater issues, collaborating across the program and with facilities and communities.

Qualifications

• Major study in hydrogeology, hydrology, geology, or closely related field.
• Experience evaluating hydrogeologic data and groundwater interactions.
• Ability to interpret water quality laws, regulations, and standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review wastewater discharge permits (SWD & NPDES) for industrial facilities.
• Assess hydrogeological reports for compliance with standards.
• Incorporate Groundwater Quality Standards into permits and assist in permit development.
