This is a full-time position located in our Boston, MA; Hartford, CT; Manchester, NH; Portland, ME; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Spokane, WA; or Dayton, OH offices.

In this role, the selected candidate will provide technical leadership for hydrogeologic site characterization and groundwater modeling assignments. The successful candidate will integrate hydrogeologic and geotechnical data to develop conceptual site models, evaluate groundwater flow, construction dewatering, seepage, and slope-stability conditions, and support multidisciplinary project teams. This position will also lead technical scopes of work, oversee field programs, prepare and review technical deliverables, mentor junior staff, and help advance H&A’s hydrogeologic capabilities.

Duties/Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
  • Lead the execution of project work through individual contribution and delegation to lower-level staff.
  • Understand and develop technical scopes of work and proposals in your specialty area and make connections between your and other aspects of the project to achieve client goals. Have an ability to recognize conditions that require modifications to accommodate client or regulatory-specific requirements.
  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of codes, regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned project work.
  • Coach, mentor, and support staff to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure high-quality execution of project tasks, technical reports, and deliverables.
  • Use developing skills to be visible in your specialty area by giving internal and external technical presentations and attending external networking events.
  • Lead the development of hydrogeologic site characterization plans and oversee the implementation of hydrogeologic field programs.
  • Perform and oversee the technical evaluation and interpretation of site characterization and hydrogeologic data, develop conceptual site models and work with other multidisciplinary team members to assess the impact to project goals.
  • Maintain high-level understanding of the current state of the practice in the hydrogeologic discipline and how it relates to other aspects of the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain involvement with external industry-specific organizations.
  • Plan and perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
Skills/Experience
Minimum Skills and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology or related field.
  • 8+ years of related professional experience.
  • Professional registration or certification, as applicable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including verbally communicating and presenting project information.
  • Desire to master skills in your discipline to become visible in the industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Strong understanding of hydrogeologic theories and methods for investigation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on interdisciplinary project teams.
Preferred Skills
  • Master’s degree in Hydrogeology or related field.
  • Groundwater Flow Modeling 2D/3D using standard industry software.
  • Familiarity with EsriGIS, Aqtesolv, and R Statistical Software.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
  • Experience applying geotechnical principles and integrating geotechnical and hydrogeologic data in multidisciplinary evaluations such as basal stability, seepage analyses, permanent pressure relief, construction dewatering, and drawdown induced settlement. (Non-standard)
  • Experience with SEEP/W, SEEP3D, and Slide. (Non-standard)
  • Professional licensure relevant to hydrogeologic practice, such as Professional Geologist (PG), Licensed Geologist (LG), Licensed Hydrogeologist (LHG), or Professional Engineer (PE), as applicable to the candidate’s discipline and work location. (Non-standard)
The salary range for this position in Boston, MA; Hartford, CT; Manchester, NH; Portland, ME; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Spokane, WA; or Dayton, OH is $105,000 - $130,000 annually . Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market. This role is eligible to participate in the company's performance-based bonus program. This bonus program is based on overall company performance and the results achieved compared to peers.
