Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Hydraulic Structures Engineer to grow within a multi-disciplinary team. You will analyze and design flood-control and water-related hydraulic structures, lead engineers across disciplines, and prepare proposals, schedules, and cost estimates.

You’ll also participate in risk analyses, client presentations, and business development activities. The role requires a Civil/Structural background with a PE license and about 10 years of related experience, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency depends on duties.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design hydraulic structures related to flood control and water projects.
• Lead project teams of structural engineers and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Prepare project proposals including scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Forecast workload and schedules.
• Prepare contract documents including drawings, specs, and cost estimates.
• Perform engineering services during construction and review submittals.
• Conduct inspections and structural assessments of existing structures.
• Prepare and present technical presentations to teams and clients.
• Conduct risk analyses for hydraulic structures and manage risk workshops.
• Manage tasks on large projects and review work for quality and standards.
