Job summary

Pattern Energy is seeking a Senior Lead HVDC Engineer to oversee HVDC transmission design across planning, design, construction and commissioning phases. The role emphasizes hands-on development of technical specs, tender evaluation, vendor reviews, and facilitating training for seamless operations.

Qualifications

• Master's or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems focus.
• 12+ years in electrical engineering with 8+ years in HVDC study, design, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Strong written/presentation skills; travel up to 30%.
• Able to lead cross-functional teams with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of HVDC codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate HVDC design from concept through final close-out and hand-off to Operations Team.
• Provide technical HVDC design expertise to stakeholders including Operations Team.
• Prepare conceptual designs for HVDC systems including main equipment and controls.
• Coordinate with internal groups, consultants, vendors, and contractors.
• Prepare scope and cost estimates for capital project justifications.
• Review designs and reports for compliance with specs and standards.
• Oversee design, interface, and commissioning of HVDC facilities and interconnections.
• Lead Pattern staff and Owner’s Engineer to meet schedules and budgets.
• Ensure proper construction and commissioning of HVDC facilities.
• Develop and execute specialized commissioning and acceptance tests for HVDC installations.
