Job summary

Trane Technologies seeks a senior HVAC service technician to act as the primary service and maintenance contact for our defined commercial market. You will commission, troubleshoot, repair, and start up HVAC systems, and perform end-to-end testing and on-site startup for assigned projects.

You'll diagnose equipment at customer locations, coordinate with team leaders and customers, maintain safety standards, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited source.
• Typically requires at least 10+ years of HVAC experience.
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Working proficiency with handheld devices such as a smartphone or tablet.
• Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months.
• EPA Certification preferred (e.g. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer).
• Technical School or formal training preferred.
• Safety-sensitive role may require drug screening.

• Commission, troubleshoot, repair, and start up HVAC systems


• Perform end-to-end testing, download programming, start up, commission, and service assigned projects


• Serve as the direct customer contact and diagnose and repair equipment and systems at customer locations


• Coordinate with team leaders, project managers, and customers to understand on‑site installation and repair requirements


• Forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize on‑site work


• Use software, technology, hand tools, blueprints, and engineering specifications to diagnose and repair units


• Enforce high safety standards


• Record the use, wear, and condition of company-issued and procured assets


• Mentor team members


• Maintain flexibility to work overtime, varying work weeks, and occasional overnight stays

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, or certificate of completion from an accredited technical school required


• Typically requires at least 10 plus years of experience in HVAC


• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software


• Working proficiency with a handheld computer, such as a smartphone or iPad


• Valid driver’s license held for a minimum of 12 months


• No major or frequent traffic violations, including DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, multiple smaller infractions, or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years


• EPA Certification preferred (e.g. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer)


• Technical School or formal training preferred


• Safety-sensitive role may require additional drug screening
