Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) seeks a Senior Engineer–HVAC to manage Grand Central Terminal’s HVAC systems and building automation. You’ll lead inspections, coordinate upgrades, and work with cross-functional teams to improve safety, efficiency, and the customer experience.

You will oversee BMS performance, plan long-term improvements, and mentor staff while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and labor agreements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum five years managing building operations and/or construction activities.
  • Minimum three years managing a diverse workforce and/or projects.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC control.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics and prepare material take-offs.
  • Strong project management, forecasting and coordination skills.
  • Must become roadway worker within six (6) months of hire.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations to promote a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage building automation, HVAC maintenance at Grand Central Terminal (GCT); establish performance goals and procedures.
  • Direct day-to-day inspection and maintenance with BMS technicians and HVAC staff.
  • Evaluate and optimize BMS performance; support testing, programming and commissioning; upgrade/maintain GCT’s BMS.
  • Coordinate upgrade and repair plans with internal and external teams; define work scopes and manage crew deployment.
  • Support safety program; review logs, budgets, payroll; report to Deputy Director.
  • Assist Superintendent GCT Maintenance with annual budget and equipment planning; develop staff.
  • Provide coaching and career development to foster a professional environment and teamwork.
